Description

Asaphen EC (Acetylsalicylic Acid delayed-release) is a painkiller agent. It is typically used to relieve pain, fever, and inflammation in various conditions such as lower back and neck pain, the flu, common cold, burns, menstrual pain, headache, migraines, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (joint diseases), sprains and strains, nerve pain, toothache, muscle pain. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Asaphen EC (Acetylsalicylic Acid delayed-release) is typically taken every four hours. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It can be taken with or without food.

WARNING: It is one of the most frequent causes of accidental poisonings in toddlers and infants. Tablets should be kept well out of the reach of children. Children and teenagers less than 18 years of age who have chicken pox (virus that causes an itchy rash with small, fluid-filled blisters), cold or flu symptoms should not take this medicine. It is reported to be linked to Reye’s syndrome, a rare but serious illness.

In addition to its desired action, Asaphen EC (Acetylsalicylic Acid delayed-release) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gastrointestinal (stomach and gut) bleeding and/or ulceration (lesion), dyspepsia (indigestion), heartburn.
It may cause tinnitus, vertigo, hearing loss

Contraindications: Do not take it if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or any ingredients of the medication, are in your last trimester of pregnancy, are prone to bleeding, are using methotrexate at doses of 15 mg or more per week, have an active gastric ulcer or a history of stomach ulcers (stomach lesions), if you have had a severe allergic or asthmatic reaction (your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus) caused by salicylates, acetylsalicylic acid, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, e.g., diclofenac, ibuprofen, indomethacin, naproxen), if you have severe kidney failure, have severe liver failure, have severe congestive heart failure (occurs when the heart muscle doesn't pump blood as well as it should).

Taking Asaphen EC (Acetylsalicylic Acid delayed-release) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method.
