Description

Apo Acyclovir (Acyclovir) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used to treat and prevent genital herpes and for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles) and varicella (chickenpox). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Acyclovir (Acyclovir) is typically used two to five times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. Drink plenty of fluids while taking Apo Acyclovir (Acyclovir) unless your doctor directs you otherwise.

WARNING: Seek medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing

In addition to its desired action, Apo Acyclovir (Acyclovir) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, weakness
It may cause upset stomach, malaise, skin rash It may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, increase in liver enzymes.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, valacyclovir, or any component of the formulation

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
