Description
Eliquis (Apixaban) is a blood thinner. It is typically used to prevent serious blood clots from forming due to a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip/knee replacement surgery. It may also have other uses.

Eliquis (Apixaban) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It can be taken with or without food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patient with renal (kidney) problems. In addition to its desired action, Eliquis (Apixaban) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause bleeding, purple areas on the skin, confusion. It may cause constipation, difficulty swallowing, fast heartbeat. It may cause nausea and vomiting, severe stomach pain, shortness of breath. Contraindications: Severe hypersensitivity reaction to apixaban or any component of the formulation, active pathological bleeding. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Eliquis (Apixaban) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
