Description
Iopidine (Apraclonidine) is an antiglaucoma agent. It is typically used to treat high pressure inside the eye (glaucoma). It may also have other uses.

Iopidine (Apraclonidine) is typically used three times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. For the eyes only. Take out contact lenses before using this drug. Lenses may be put back in 15 minutes after this drug is given. If more than one topical ophthalmic drug (drug especially designed to be applied to the eyes) is used, administer the drugs at least 5 minutes apart. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with heart problems. Use with caution in patients with kidney problems. In addition to its desired action, Iopidine (Apraclonidine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause eye discomfort, eye pruritus (itchy eyes), ocular hyperemia (inflammation of the eye). It may cause blurred vision, nausea, headache. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to apraclonidine, clonidine, or any component of the formulation, concomitant use with MAO inhibitors (class of medication used to treat depression). Taking Iopidine (Apraclonidine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Iopidine (Apraclonidine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
