Description

Mylan Atazanavir (Atazanavir) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used in combination with other antiviral agents to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV, a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Mylan Atazanavir (Atazanavir) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer this drug with food.

WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hemophilia A or B (group of inherited bleeding disorders that cause abnormal or exaggerated bleeding and poor blood clotting). Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems.

In addition to its desired action, Mylan Atazanavir (Atazanavir) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause hypersensitivity reaction, jaundice (a medical condition with yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes).
It may cause increased serum cholesterol, diarrhea, fever.
It may cause nausea, headache, skin rash, abdominal pain.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to atazanavir or any component of the formulation, concurrent therapy with others medications (alfuzosin, amiodarone, amiodarone, rifampin, sildenafil, ergot derivatives). 

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
