SDZ Azithromycin (Azithromycin)

Additional information

SDZ Azithromycin  (Azithromycin)'s dosage depends on your condition (usual range: 250 mg - 2000 mg). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It may be taken with or without food. Swallow the whole tablet with a full glass of water. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. Do not crush, break, or chew. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. 

WARNING: Long-term use of Azithromycin may cause it not to work anymore in the future (resistance), more bacteria and fungi to grow (superinfection), and bacteria that do not die (resistance). Azithromycin only treats bacterial infections, not viral infections such as the common cold. Use with caution in patients with myasthenia gravis (a chronic autoimmune disorder in which antibodies destroy the communication between nerves and muscle, resulting in weakness of the skeletal muscles), it may exacerbate the condition.

In addition to its desired action, SDZ Azithromycin  (Azithromycin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause changes in the sense of taste (dysgeusia), diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting.
It may cause abnormal liver function tests. It may cause fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, vagina, or urinary tract.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin, Erythromycin, other antibiotics of the same class, or any component of the formulation. Do not use this product if you have a history of cholestatic jaundice (yellow discoloration of skin and/or eyes) or liver problems after using Azithromycin.

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
