Description
Benazepril (Benazepril) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may also have other uses.

Benazepril (Benazepril) is typically given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It may be taken with or without food. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Drugs such as Benazepril can cause injury and death to the developing fetus. Angioedema, a serious allergic reaction that causes the area around the throat and tongue to swell, may occur with Benazepril (Benazepril) (especially after the first dose). In black patients, the effects of Benazepril (Benazepril) may be less pronounced. Benazepril may cause a dry, persistent cough that usually disappears after stopping or decreasing the dose. Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver disease, dose adjustment may be recommended. In addition to its desired action, Benazepril (Benazepril) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause hypotension (low blood pressure), muscle or joint pain, or decreased sexual desire. It may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or headaches. It may cause nausea, a change to the sense of taste, or constipation. It may cause a dry, persistent cough. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Benazepril or other ACE inhibitors (similar agents), or any component of the formulation. Patients who experienced angioedema (swelling of the lip, eyes, and face) related to previous treatment with an ACE inhibitor, or from an unknown cause, or suffer from hereditary angioedema should not use this product. Diabetic patients who are concomitantly taking Aliskiren should not take Benazepril. The coadministration with or within 36 hours of switching to or from a neprilysin inhibitor (e.g., Sacubitril) is not recommended. Taking Benazepril (Benazepril) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Benazepril (Benazepril) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
