Description
Diprosone (Betamethasone) is a topical corticosteroid agent. It is typically used for the treatment of relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatose (term used to describe any skin defect or lesion on the skin), treatment of mild to moderate plaque psoriasis (skin disease that causes red, itchy scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp) in patients 18 years and older. It may also have other uses.

Diprosone (Betamethasone) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Discontinue if skin irritation, prolonged use of corticosteroids may also increase the incidence of secondary infection. For topical use only, avoid contact with eyes. Withdraw therapy with gradual tapering of dose by reducing the frequency of application or substitution of a less potent steroid. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Diprosone (Betamethasone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, bradycardia (slow heart rate) and heart failure It may cause application site reaction, application site burning and stinging of the skin. It may cause acne vulgaris and alopecia (hair loss). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to betamethasone, other corticosteroids, or any component of the formulation. Treatment of rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, viral diseases, untreated bacterial, fungal, parasitic, syphilis, and tubercular infection involving the skin. Taking Diprosone (Betamethasone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Diprosone (Betamethasone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Diprosone (Betamethasone)
