Description
Trumenba (Bivalent Recombinant Lipoprotein 2086 Meningococcal group B vaccine) used to prevent invasive meningococcal disease, caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B bacteria, for use in people aged 10 through 25 years. Invasive meningococcal group B disease (also known as meningitis B) is a serious and sometimes life threatening bacterial infection that can result in meningitis (inflammation of the covering of the brain and spinal cord) and sepsis (blood poisoning).

Trumenba (Bivalent Recombinant Lipoprotein 2086 Meningococcal group B vaccine) is typically administered as two shots. It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinical setting. Trumenba is injected into the upper arm muscle. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: This vaccine can only protect against the types of bacteria specific to and, as with other vaccines, may not provide 100% protection for everyone who receives the vaccine. There is a risk of increased bleeding or bruising when any intramuscular injection is given to a person who has a bleeding disorder or is taking medications to thin the blood. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause chills, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, headache, nausea and vomiting. It may cause joint pain and muscle pain. It may cause pain, warmth, redness, tenderness, swelling, hardening at the place of injection. Contraindications: Severe hypersensitivity to the meningococcal group B vaccine or any component of the formulation. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
