Description

Boric Acid (Boric acid) a topical antiseptic (antimicrobial) and astringent (substance that shrinks tissues.) It is typically used for temporary relief of minor cuts and burns. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Boric Acid (Boric acid) is typically dissolved as one teaspoonful (3 g) in a glass (200 mL) of warm, previously boiled water. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of Boric Acid (Boric acid), or more often, than prescribed. Apply with an absorbent puff to relieve and disinfect minor cuts and burns.
WARNING: For external use only. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use if security seal is damaged. Avoid inhaling powder. Not for oral use. If swallowed, contact a Poison Control Centre immediately. This product should not be used as a dusting powder as it can be harmful. Boric acid should be used only when diluted and as directed. Do not apply to open wounds. Do not administer to children under three years of age.
In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause moderate irritation of skin and mucous membranes. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to boric acid or any component of the formulation. Children under three years of age.
Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use Boric Acid (Boric acid).
