Description

Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a neuromuscular blocker agent. It is typically used for the treatment of severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in the armpits) by adults, prophylaxis (prevention) of chronic migraine (a throbbing pain is felt only on one side of the head) headaches by adults, and for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe forehead lines by adults. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A)'s dosage depends on the condition (usual range: 1.25 units-400 units). Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It will be given to you by a doctor a hospital or clinical setting.

WARNING: Distant spread of botulinum toxin (Botox) beyond the site of injection has been reported, dysphagia (difficulty or discomfort in swallowing) and breathing difficulties have occurred and may be life threatening, there have been reports of death

In addition to its desired action, Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause bacteriuria (bacteria in urine), urinary retention, urinary tract infection 
It may cause dysphagia (difficulty or discomfort in swallowing), headache 
It may cause neck pain 

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any botulinum toxin preparation or any component of the formulation, infection at the proposed injection site (s).

Taking Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
