Description

Pulmicort Nebuamp (Budesonide nebuamp) is a corticosteroid. It is typically used to control the symptoms of asthma (a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus) and prevent asthma attacks. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Pulmicort Nebuamp (Budesonide nebuamp)'s dosage depends on your age. The usual starting dose for children (3 months to 12 years) is 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg twice a day, and the usual starting dose for adults is 1 mg to 2 mg twice a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Shake well before use, do not swallow the suspension. Rinse your mouth with water (without swallowing) following each treatment, wash your face if you are using a face mask. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. 
 
WARNING: Pulmicort is not use as a "reliever" medication. If you start developing an asthma attack, be sure to use your "reliever" medication for rapid relief of your asthma symptoms. Adequate oral hygiene, such as rinsing your mouth with water after using Pulmicort Nebuamp (Budesonide nebuamp), helps reduce the chances of developing a yeast infection of the mouth or throat (thrush). Use with caution in patients with major risk factors for decreased bone mineral count (e.g., prolonged immobilization, family history of osteoporosis (weakened bones), postmenopausal status, tobacco use, advanced age, poor nutrition, or chronic use of drugs that can reduce bone mass (e.g., anticonvulsants or oral corticosteroids), long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids have been associated with decreases in bone mineral density.
 
In addition to its desired action, Pulmicort Nebuamp (Budesonide nebuamp) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause infections of the middle ear (otitis media), respiratory symptoms, or rhinitis (runny nose).
It may cause bad taste in mouth after taking the dose, dry throat, cough, or voice hoarseness.
It may cause diarrhea, headache, or nausea. 
It may cause oral thrush (fungal infection of the mouth). 
 
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Budesonide or any component of the formulation. Budesonide should not be used as a primary treatment of severe asthma exacerbation or other acute episodes of asthma requiring intensive measures.
 
Taking Pulmicort Nebuamp (Budesonide nebuamp) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
