Description
Myleran (Busulfan) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used for the management of chronic myeloid leukemia (cancer of white blood cells). Busulfan prevents the growth of cancer cells by interfering with the genetic material DNA, which is necessary for the reproduction of cells. It may also have other uses.

Myleran (Busulfan) is typically taken four times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. Take them at the same time every day. Your doctor may want you to drink extra fluids while taking Myleran (Busulfan) to prevent kidney problems. WARNING: Severe and prolonged bone marrow suppression (when fewer blood cells are made in the marrow) commonly occurs, reduce dose or discontinue oral busulfan for unusual suppression In addition to its desired action, Myleran (Busulfan) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, anxiety, constipation, darkening of skin, decreased sexual ability It may cause diarrhea, dry mouth, dry skin, fatigue It may cause hair loss, headache, heartburn Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to busulfan or any component of the formulation, oral busulfan is contraindicated in patients without a definitive diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia Taking Myleran (Busulfan) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Myleran (Busulfan) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
