Description

SDZ Ceftriaxone Sodium (Ceftriaxone) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat bacterial infections such as gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease), pelvic inflammatory disease (infection of the female reproductive organs that may cause infertility), meningitis (infection of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord), and infections of the lungs, ears, skin, urinary tract, blood, bones, joints, and abdomen. It may also have other uses.

SDZ Ceftriaxone Sodium (Ceftriaxone)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer SDZ Ceftriaxone Sodium (Ceftriaxone) to you in a hospital or clinical setting.
WARNING: Use with caution in patients with concurrent hepatic (liver) dysfunction and severe kidney disease.
In addition to its desired action, SDZ Ceftriaxone Sodium (Ceftriaxone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause hypersensitivity reactions, warm sensation at injection site.
It may cause diarrhea, abnormal liver function test, rash, headache, dizziness.
It may cause thrombocythemia (a condition of high platelet that help blood clot), vaginal itching or discharge.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, any component of the formulation, or similar agents, do not use in hyperbilirubinemic neonates (excess serum bilirubin in the newborn, bilirubin is a yellowish pigment that is made during the normal breakdown of red blood cells), concomitant use with intravenous calcium-containing solutions/products in neonates under 28 days, intravenous use of ceftriaxone solutions containing lidocaine. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
