Description
Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate) is a sedative/hypnotic agent. It is typically used to manage short-term sleeping problems and is used before surgery or other procedures to reduce anxiety or to produce sedation or sleep. It may also have other uses.

Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate) is typically taken 15 to 30 minutes before bedtime when use as a sleeping aid. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Chloral hydrate should be taken with a full glass of water to reduce stomach upset. It can also be mixed in other liquids such as fruit juice or ginger ale. This medication is normally only used for short periods of time as it can become habit-forming and lose its effectiveness. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Chloral hydrate may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not engage in activities requiring mental alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, after you take Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate). Chloral hydrate may worsen esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus), gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), and intestinal ulcers. Do not use in patients with such problems. Lower doses may be needed for seniors with reduced liver or kidney function, and for seniors who are debilitated. In addition to its desired action, Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause diarrhea, flatulence or gas, nausea or vomiting, and stomach pain. It may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, drowsiness, "hangover" effect, and headache. It may cause taste disturbances, and unsteadiness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to chloral hydrate or any component of the formulation. Patients with marked liver or kidney impairment should not use Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate). Taking Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate) during pregnancy may be harmful to the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Odan Chloral Hydrate (Chloral Hydrate) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
