Description
Chlorthalidone (Chlorthalidone) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used to treat high blood pressure. It’s also used to treat edema (swelling). It may also have other uses.

Chlorthalidone (Chlorthalidone) is typically once per day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hypoparathyroidism (abnormally low levels of parathyroid hormone). Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, severe liver impairment. Use with caution in patients with progressive or severe hepatic (liver) disease, with moderate or high cholesterol concentrations. Avoid in severe renal disease (ineffective) In addition to its desired action, Chlorthalidone (Chlorthalidone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, vomiting, stomach cramping, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, dizziness, headache It may cause increased thirst, heart problems, skin rash Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to chlorthalidone, other sulfonamide-derived drugs (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim, sulfasalazine, sulfisoxazole), or any component of the formulation, anuria (failure of the kidneys to produce urine) Taking Chlorthalidone (Chlorthalidone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
