Description
HCG PPC (Chorionic Gonadotropin) is an ovulatory agent. It is typically used to induce ovulation and pregnancy in women in whom the cause of anovulation (no ovulation) is not caused by primary ovarian failure (when the ovaries stop functioning normally), and who have been appropriately pre-treated with human menotropins (fertility drugs). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
HCG PPC (Chorionic Gonadotropin)'s dosage depends on the condition (5 000 - 10 000 IU). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. This medication is best injected under the skin (subcutaneous) or into the muscle (intramuscular). It is important to rotate the site of injection between each dose to minimize the risk of fat wasting at the site of injection. Remove up to 10 mL from the diluent vial and add to the Chorionic Gonadotropin for Injection vial, mix gently until reconstitution is complete. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: This medication may increase the chance of blood clot formation, causing reduction of blood flow to organs or the extremities. Treatment can cause a condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). With OHSS, too many follicles grow and cause abdominal or pelvic discomfort or pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight gain. Use with caution in patients with asthma, cardiovascular disease, kidney impairment, or seizure disorders. In addition to its desired action, HCG PPC (Chorionic Gonadotropin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, irritability, restlessness, or depression. It may cause fatigue, swelling, or pain at the site of injection. It may cause nausea, diarrhea, headache, sweating, or dizziness. It may cause rupture of ovarian cysts (fluid-filled sacs on the ovaries). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to chorionic gonadotropin or any component of the formulation. Do not use in case of precocious puberty (starting puberty too soon), prostate carcinoma (cancer of the prostate in men) or other androgen-dependent neoplasms (cancers that are dependent on the male hormone for growth). Taking HCG PPC (Chorionic Gonadotropin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Pregnant women should not use this product. A treatment with HCG PPC (Chorionic Gonadotropin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.HCG PPC (Chorionic Gonadotropin)
