Description
Clobex (Clobetasol) is a topical anti-inflammatory drug from the cortisone family. It is typically used to treat moderate to severe scalp psoriasis (a common skin disorder that makes raised, reddish, often scaly patches. It can pop up as a single patch or several, and can even affect your entire scalp). Clobetasol reduces the swelling, itching and redness. It may also have other uses.

Clobex (Clobetasol) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Apply a thin film of shampoo to your dry scalp by squeezing the bottle directly over the affected area, once daily, or as directed by your doctor. Gently rub the shampoo into the affected area, leaving it on your scalp for 15 minutes. Wash your hands immediately after applying the shampoo. Then wet your scalp, lather, and rinse the shampoo off thoroughly. Also rinse any other body parts (such as hands, face, neck, shoulders) that may have come in contact with the shampoo. The use of another non-medicated shampoo is not necessary to clean your hair, although it may be used if desired. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Allergic contact dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) may occur, it is usually diagnosed by failure to heal. Avoid contact with eyes. If you get the shampoo in your eyes or on your lips, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Treatment with Clobex (Clobetasol) should be limited to 4 weeks. If your condition does not improve within 4 weeks, contact your doctor. In addition to its desired action, Clobex (Clobetasol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause burning, stinging, itching, irritation, redness, or skin discoloration It may cause dry skin, hair loss, headache, or acne Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to clobetasol, other corticosteroids, or any component of the formulation. Taking Clobex (Clobetasol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Clobex (Clobetasol) for the fetus. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
