Description
Dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergotamine) is an antimigraine agent. It is typically used to treat migraine (severe headache) attacks. It may also have other uses.

Dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergotamine)'s dosage depends on the condition (maximum dose: 6 mg/week). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergotamine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: This medication should only be used where a clear diagnosis of migraine headaches has been established. In addition to its desired action, Dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergotamine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause rhinitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose), dry mouth, headache. It may cause muscle stiffness, dizziness (weak or unsteady), drowsiness (feeling abnormally sleepy during the day). It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, increased sweating. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to dihydroergotamine or any component of the formulation, uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure), some serious heart diseases (ischemic heart disease, angina pectoris, history of heart attack, silent ischemia, or coronary artery vasospasm including Prinzmetal angina), hemiplegic or basilar migraine (a rare form of migraine), severe liver or kidney dysfunction, recent vascular surgery, concurrent use with some medications (includes protease inhibitors, azole antifungals, and some macrolide antibiotics), pregnancy, breastfeeding Taking Dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergotamine) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergotamine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
