Description
Apo Doxy (Doxycycline) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat bacterial infections. It may also have other uses.

Apo Doxy (Doxycycline) is typically given once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It should be taken after meals, with plenty of fluid, to reduce the risk of injury to the esophagus (swallowing tube). Do not lie down for at least 1 to 2 hours after taking the medication. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. Do not chew or crush Apo Doxy (Doxycycline). If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Doxycycline should not be taken with antacids or iron preparations, as these may interfere with its effectiveness. Long-term use of Doxycycline may cause it not to work anymore in the future (resistance), more bacteria and fungi to grow (superinfection), and bacteria that do not die (resistance). It may cause bone growth retardation in children. In addition to its desired action, Apo Doxy (Doxycycline) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. It may cause discoloration of skin, scars, teeth, or gums. It may cause vulvovaginal infection (itching and irritation in the vagina and vulva, burning sensation, especially during intercourse or while urinating. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Doxycycline, other tetracyclines (similar agents), or any component of the formulation. Taking Apo Doxy (Doxycycline) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Doxy (Doxycycline) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
