Description
Angeliq (Drospirenone Estradiol) is a combination of hormones. It is typically used for the symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes or vaginal changes (itching, burning, dryness, urination problems). It may also have other uses.

Angeliq (Drospirenone Estradiol) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Tablets should be swallowed whole with some liquid with or without food and taken at the same time each day. Women who are not taking estrogen (hormone) or who are changing from a continuous combination product may start therapy at anytime. Women who are switching from sequential or cyclic hormone therapy should complete the current cycle before switching to this product. A forgotten dose should be taken as soon as possible. If more than 24 hours have passed, the missed tablet should not be taken. WARNING: Use caution in patients with asthma (a respiratory condition causing difficulty in breathing), heart or renal (kidney) dysfunction, epilepsy (abnormal brain activity). Use caution with migraine. In addition to its desired action, Angeliq (Drospirenone Estradiol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, stomach upset, bloating, irritability It may cause changes in sleep patterns, nausea, weight changes, increased/decreased interest in sex It may cause change in vaginal discharge, or breast tenderness Contraindications: Anaphylactic reaction (a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction), angioedema (swelling of the lip, eyes, and face), or hypersensitivity to drospirenone, estradiol, or any component of the formulation, undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding, DVT or PE (blood clots), active or history of arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g., stroke, heart attack), carcinoma (cancer) of the breast (known, suspected, or history of), estrogen-dependent tumor (known or suspected), liver impairment or disease, renal (kidney) impairment, adrenal insufficiency (when the adrenal glands, glands on top of the kidneys, don't make enough of the hormone cortisol), pregnancy (confirmed or suspected) Taking Angeliq (Drospirenone Estradiol) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Angeliq (Drospirenone Estradiol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
