Aimovig (Erenumab)

Aimovig (Erenumab) is typically used once monthly. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Prior to subcutaneous (under the skin) administration, allow AIMOVIG to sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes and protect from direct sunlight. Do not warm by using a heat source such as hot water or microwave. Do not shake the product. Administer AIMOVIG in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm subcutaneously. Injection sites should be rotated and injections should not be given into areas where the skin is tender, bruised, red, or hard. Both the Prefilled Syringe and Prefilled autoinjectors are single-use and designed to deliver the entire contents with no residual content remaining.
WARNING: This medication may cause hypertension (high blood pressure), use with caution in patients with hypertension or risk factors for hypertension. If a serious hypersensitivity reaction occurs,
discontinue administration of AIMOVIG and initiate appropriate therapy.
In addition to its desired action, Aimovig (Erenumab) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause high blood pressure, constipation.
It may cause muscle cramps, pain at injection site.
It may cause hypersensitivity reaction, skin rash.
Contraindications: Serious hypersensitivity to erenumab or any component of the formulation. Taking Aimovig (Erenumab) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Aimovig (Erenumab) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
