Description
Intelence (Etravirine) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used alone or with other medications to treat HIV infection (a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS). It may also have other uses.

Intelence (Etravirine) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer this drug after meals. If unable to swallow tablets, you may disperse tablets in water, stir well, then add ~15 mL of water, milk or orange juice, and drink immediately. Tablets should not be placed in orange juice or milk without first adding water. WARNING: If severe hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., severe rash or rash with fever, malaise, fatigue, muscle or joint pain) occur, immediately discontinue etravirine and initiate appropriate therapy. In addition to its desired action, Intelence (Etravirine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause skin rash, increased LDL cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol). It may cause also cause changes in fat distribution (increased fat in the upper back and neck, breasts, and trunk, and loss of fat from the arms, legs, and face). It may cause nausea, night sweats, numbness, tingling or pain in the hands or feet, trouble sleeping. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to etravirine or any component of the formulation, concomitant use with the hepatitis C (liver disease caused by a virus) combination regimen of ombitasvir, paritaprevir, ritonavir and with drugs containing dasabuvir. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Intelence (Etravirine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
