Description

Palafer CF (Folic Acid Iron Vitamin C) is a vitamin supplement containing iron, folic acid, and vitamin C. It is typically used to prevent and treat iron deficiency. When taken daily prior to becoming pregnant and during early pregnancy, this supplement helps reduce the risk of neural tube defects (when the neural tube, that forms the early brain and spine, does not close properly). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Palafer CF (Folic Acid Iron Vitamin C) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It should be taken on an empty stomach at bedtime, or as directed by your physician. Take it a few hours before and after taking other medications or supplements to prevent drug interactions. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: Keep out of reach of children. When taken with certain foods, iron tends to lose much of its efficacy. Avoid the following foods when taking Palafer CF: eggs, yogurt, cheese, milk, tea, coffee, and whole grain breads and cereals.

In addition to its desired action, Palafer CF (Folic Acid Iron Vitamin C) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting.
It may cause stomach pain, cramping, or soreness.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.

Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters). If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Palafer CF (Folic Acid Iron Vitamin C) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Palafer CF (Folic Acid Iron Vitamin C)
