Symbicort 100 Turbuhaler (Formoterol Budesonide) is typically used as one or two inhalations, once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Place mouthpiece gently between teeth, closing lips around inhaler. Inhale deeply and hold breath held for as long as they comfortably can. Remove mouthpiece prior to exhalation. Do not breathe out through the mouthpiece. Dose is lost if patient drops, shakes, or exhales into inhaler after a dose has been loaded. After use of the inhaler, patient should rinse mouth/oropharynx with water and spit out rinse solution. Do not wash inhaler with water, clean mouthpiece using a dry wipe every 7 days.
WARNING: Use with caution in patients with heart disease. Do not use for acute episodes of COPD (a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties). Do not initiate in patients with significantly worsening or acutely deteriorating COPD. Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, liver disease, hypokalemia (decrease potassium levels in the blood), eye problems (increased intraocular pressure.), seizure disorders (electrical disturbance in the brain)
In addition to its desired action, Symbicort 100 Turbuhaler (Formoterol Budesonide) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, throat irritation, stomach upset, vomiting
It may cause respiratory tract infection, influenza, back pain It may cause pulmonary infection, nasal congestion Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to budesonide, formoterol, or any component of the formulation, primary treatment of status asthmaticus (severe asthma unresponsive to repeated courses of beta-agonist therapy) or other acute episodes of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease where intensive measures are required.
Taking Symbicort 100 Turbuhaler (Formoterol Budesonide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
