Description
Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin) is an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory agent. It is typically used to treat an eye or ear infection. It may also have other uses.

Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin) is typically used three or four times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Ear drops: Instill the drops (2 or 3 drops) by tilting your head to one side and letting the drops fall into the ear canal from above. Eye drops: Tilt your head back and drop 1 or 2 drops into the eye. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus (a disease that occurs when blood sugar, is too high). Stop using Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin) and call your doctor if you experience any signs of allergy or sensitivity to any of its ingredients. Symptoms of such an allergy may include itching, rash, redness, or irritation that was not present before beginning the use of Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin). In addition to its desired action, Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause burning, stinging, redness, or watering of the eyes, stinging of the eye or ear. It may cause hypersensitivity reaction, blurred vision. Contraindications: if you are allergic to framycetin sulfate, gramicidin, dexamethasone, or to any of the ingredients of the medication, if you have a perforation of the eardrum, if you have untreated infections with thick secretions, if you have viral or fungal infections of the ear. Taking Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Sofracort (Framycetin Dexamethasone Gramicidin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
