Description
Simponi (Golimumab) is an antirheumatic agent. It is typically used to treat some types of arthritis (a condition that causes pain and inflammation in a joint). It may also have other uses.

Simponi (Golimumab)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. After proper training in subcutaneous injection (under the skin) technique, patients may self-inject if their physician determines that this is appropriate, with medical follow-up as necessary. Patients should be instructed to inject the full amount of Simponi. If multiple injections are required, the injections should be administered at different sites on the body. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with heart failure (a condition that develops when the heart doesn't pump enough blood). Use with caution in elderly. Patients receiving golimumab are at increased risk for serious infections which may result in hospitalization and/or fatality. In addition to its desired action, Simponi (Golimumab) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause constipation, dizziness, nausea, fever, injection site reactions. It may cause infection, high blood pressure, skin rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to golimumab, or any other component of formulation, patients with severe infections, moderate or severe heart failure. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Simponi (Golimumab) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
