Description
Ultravate (Halobetasol) is a corticosteroid agent. It is typically used for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic (itching) manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses (a disease or abnormal condition of the skin). It may also have other uses.

Ultravate (Halobetasol) is typically applied to the affected area once or twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. For external use only, not for ophthalmic (eye), oral, or intravaginal use, do not apply to the face, scalp, groin, or axillae. Use of occlusive dressings is not recommended unless directed by a healthcare provider. Apply thin film to affected area and rub in completely. Wash hands after application (unless treating hands). WARNING: Allergic contact dermatitis (when a substance to which you're sensitive (allergen) triggers an immune reaction in your skin) can occur. Discontinue therapy if contact dermatitis develops. In addition to its desired action, Ultravate (Halobetasol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause acne, burning, dryness, irritation, itching It may cause increased redness or scaling of skin sores It may cause skin rash, redness or stinging skin Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to halobetasol or any component of the formulation Taking Ultravate (Halobetasol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Ultravate (Halobetasol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
