Description
Ipravent (Ipratropium) is a bronchodilator. It is typically used to treat a runny nose caused by the common cold. It may also have other uses.

Ipravent (Ipratropium) is typically given as 2 sprays in each nostril, 3 or 4 times per day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Blow your nose gently to clear the nostrils before using the spray. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Avoid direct contact with eye. Use with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma (high pressure inside the eye) as Ipravent (Ipratropium) may further increase eye pressure. Use with caution in patients with prostate hyperplasia (enlargement of the prostate) or bladder neck obstruction, may cause urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder). In addition to its desired action, Ipravent (Ipratropium) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, dizziness, or a sore throat. It may cause a dry nose, discomfort or irritation in the nose, or a nose bleed. It may cause diarrhea, dry mouth, or nausea. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Ipratropium, atropine (and its derivatives), or any component of the formulation. Taking Ipravent (Ipratropium) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Ipravent (Ipratropium) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
