Description
SDZ Irbesartan HCT (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may also have other uses.

SDZ Irbesartan HCT (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. WARNING: Drugs that act on the renin-angiotensin system (such as SDZ Irbesartan HCT (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide) and similar agents) can cause injury and death to the developing fetus. Discontinue as soon as possible once pregnancy is detected. In addition to its desired action, SDZ Irbesartan HCT (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause edema (swelling), chest pain, decreased blood pressure, tachycardia (rapid heart rate) It may cause dizziness, fatigue It may cause hypokalemia (low blood potassium) It may cause nausea and vomiting, dyspepsia (indigestion), heartburn, abdominal pain Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to irbesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamide-derived drugs (sulfisoxazole, trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, sulfadiazine) or any component of the formulation, concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes mellitus, anuria (failure of the kidneys to produce urine),concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with moderate-to-severe renal (kidney) impairment, concomitant use with ACE inhibitors (similar agents) in patients with diabetic nephropathy (renal disease), pregnancy, breastfeeding Taking SDZ Irbesartan HCT (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with SDZ Irbesartan HCT (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
