Additional information
Monoferric (Iron Isomaltoside 1000)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It will be given to you by a nurse or a doctor. May be administered as a slow intravenous (IV- in the vein) injection. Administer IV infusion over at least 15 minutes. WARNING: Significant hypotension (very low blood pressure) has been reported. Hypotension may be related to rate of administration (avoid rapid IV injection). Oral iron therapy should be started 5 days after administering the last injection. Parenteral (administered via injection) iron should be avoided in patients with liver dysfunction. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Monoferric (Iron Isomaltoside 1000) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause skin rash, hypophosphatemia (low phosphate levels) and nausea. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to iron isomaltoside, iron parenteral products, or any component of the formulation, liver disease, non-iron deficiency anemia (a condition in which there is a deficiency of red cells or of hemoglobin in the blood, resulting in pallor and weariness), iron overload (accumulation of iron in the body). Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Monoferric (Iron Isomaltoside 1000) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
