Description

Apo Ketoconazole (Ketoconazole) is an antifungal agent. It is typically used to treat certain fungal infections in the body. It works by stopping the growth of the fungus. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Apo Ketoconazole (Ketoconazole) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. This medication may be taken with or without food, but taking it with food helps to reduce stomach upset. If you are taking drugs that decrease stomach acidity, take ketoconazole at least 2 hours before or 1 hour after taking the antacid, otherwise ketoconazole may not be absorbed into the body.
WARNING: Absorption is reduced in patients with achlorhydria (absence of hydrochloric acid in the stomach secretions), administer with acidic liquids (e.g., soda pop). Avoid concomitant use of drugs that decrease stomach acidity. Ketoconazole tablets are not indicated for the treatment of fungus infection of the fingernails or toenails, skin, hair, and nails or candida infections (parasitic fungus). Use only when other effective antifungal therapy is unavailable or not tolerated and the benefits of ketoconazole treatment are considered to outweigh the risks

It may cause headaches, dizziness, It may cause liver damage. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any component of the formulation, liver disease, coadministration with alprazolam, cisapride, colchicine, disopyramide, dofetilide, dronedarone, eplerenone, dihydroergotamine, ergometrine, ergotamine, methylergometrine (and similar agents), felodipine, lovastatin, simvastatin (and similar agents), irinotecan, lurasidone, methadone, oral midazolam, nisoldipine, pimozide, quinidine, ranolazine, tolvaptan, triazolam
Taking Apo Ketoconazole (Ketoconazole) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
