Dayvigo (Lemborexant)

Dayvigo (Lemborexant) is usually taken once per night, a few minutes before going to bed. However, your pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Do not take lemborexant if you have less than 7 hours between the time you take the medication and the time you will wake up. This medication may be taken with or without food, however it may work slower if you take it with or right after a meal. Grapefruit juice can cause lemborexant to build up in the body, causing increased effects. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice when taking lemborexant.
WARNING: Do not combine Dayvigo (Lemborexant) with alcohol or other medications (e.g., antidepressants, sleeping pills, anxiety medications) that cause drowsiness since additional drowsiness can occur, which can be dangerous. Like other medications that affect the nervous system, lemborexant can suppress breathing. If you have asthma, or another lung disease that increases your risk for breathing difficulties, discuss with your doctor. Even when taken at the lowest effective dose, lemborexant may cause drowsiness or mental impairment in the daytime. Lemborexant, like other medications to help with sleep, may cause mood swings and symptoms of depression, including thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
In addition to its desired action, Dayvigo (Lemborexant) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause abnormal dreams, back pain, fatigue, headache
It may cause nausea, nightmares, sleepiness during the day
Contraindications: Do not take it if you are allergic to lemborexant or any ingredients of the medication
or if you have narcolepsy (a rare long-term brain condition that causes a person to suddenly fall asleep at inappropriate times).
Taking Dayvigo (Lemborexant) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Dayvigo (Lemborexant) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
