Description
Lupron 14 days (Leuprolide) is an anticancer agent and a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. It is typically used for the management of endometriosis, prostate cancer and the treatment of pediatric patients with central precocious puberty (CPP). CPP is defined as early onset of secondary sexual characteristics (usually <8 years of age in girls and <9 years of age in boys), may have a significantly advanced bone age resulting in diminished adult height. It may also have other uses.

Lupron 14 days (Leuprolide) is typically taken as 1 mg once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Do not use concurrently a fractional dose of the 3-, 4-, or 6-month depot formulation, or a combination of doses of the monthly depot formulation or any depot formulation due to different release characteristics. Do not use a combination of syringes to achieve a particular dose. WARNING: This medication may increase the risk for cardiovascular disease. Sudden cardiac death and stroke have been reported In addition to its desired action, Lupron 14 days (Leuprolide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause edema (swelling), flushing, ischemia (a condition in which the blood flow (and thus oxygen) is restricted or reduced in a part of the body) It may cause diaphoresis (excessive sweating) It may cause decreased libido, hot flushes, increased serum cholesterol (23%), increased serum triglycerides Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to leuprolide, GnRH, GnRH-agonist analogs (similar agents), or any component of the formulation, pregnancy, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding Taking Lupron 14 days (Leuprolide) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Lupron 14 days (Leuprolide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
