Description
Metoject (Methotrexate) is an immunosuppressant agent. It is typically used to treat severe psoriasis (an autoimmune skin condition that causes itchiness and discomfort) and severe rheumatoid arthritis (an autoimmune disease in which your immune system mistakenly attacks your joints, causing inflammation and pain). It may also have other uses.

Metoject (Methotrexate) is typically given once weekly. However, your doctor or pharmacist will suggest a schedule that is appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Select a day of the week when you are most likely to remember to take METOJECT and take it on that same day each week. While you are using METOJECT, your doctor may want you to drink extra fluids so that you will pass more urine. This will help the drug to pass from the body, and will prevent kidney problems and keep your kidneys working well. WARNING: It should be used with caution in patients having current infections, renal (kidney) diseases or taking any anti-inflammatory medications. In addition to its desired action, Metoject (Methotrexate) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, vomiting, infections, burning sensation of the skin, headache, disturbances in blood cell counts. Contraindications: History of severe hypersensitivity to methotrexate or any component of the formulation, breastfeeding, pregnancy, renal (kidney) diseases. Taking Metoject (Methotrexate) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or becoming pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Metoject (Methotrexate) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
