Description
Depo Medrol (Methylprednisolone) is a corticosteroid agent. It is typically used to treat conditions such as arthritis (inflammation or swelling of one or more joints), blood disorders, severe allergic reactions, certain cancers, eye conditions, skin/kidney/intestinal/lung diseases, endocrine disorders (medical conditions where the endocrine system, which produces hormones, does not function correctly) and immune system disorders. It may also have other uses.

Depo Medrol (Methylprednisolone)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Depo Medrol (Methylprednisolone) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patient with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus (high blood sugar level). Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal (relating to the stomach and the intestines) diseases. Use with caution in patients with myasthenia gravis (disease characterized by weakness and rapid fatigue of any of the muscles under your voluntary control). Use with caution in patients with osteoporosis (a disease that weakens bones to the point where they break easily). Use with caution in patients with a history of seizure disorders (a central nervous system disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal). In addition to its desired action, Depo Medrol (Methylprednisolone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause bloating, constipation, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure. It may cause headaches, increased appetite, skin rash, depression, fluid and electrolyte (minerals in the body that have an electric charge) disturbances. It may cause nausea, swelling, vomiting, weight gain, headache, hyperglycemia (high blood sugar level), increased liver enzymes. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to methylprednisolone or any component of the formulation, systemic fungal infection (affecting the entire body), intrathecal (administration for drugs via an injection into the spinal canal) and intravascular administration (administration for drugs via an injection into a blood vessel), live or attenuated virus vaccines (types of vaccines), use in premature infants (babies born alive before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed), immune thrombocytopenia (a disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding). Taking Depo Medrol (Methylprednisolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
