Description
Rydapt (Midostaurin) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used together with other cancer medicines to treat acute myeloid leukemia (a cancer of the blood and bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside bones where blood cells are made). It may also have other uses.

Rydapt (Midostaurin) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food at approximately 12-hour intervals. Do not open or crush the capsules. WARNING: White blood cells (disease-fighting cells) should be monitored regularly, especially at treatment initiation. Patients should be assessed for signs and symptoms of heart failure at baseline and periodically during the treatment. In addition to its desired action, Rydapt (Midostaurin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause edema (a condition characterized by an excess of watery fluid collecting in the cavities or tissues of the body), headache, insomnia (difficulty falling asleep). It may cause disturbance in attention, upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation. It may cause abnormal blood test results, cough, fatigue. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to midostaurin or any component of the formulation. Taking Rydapt (Midostaurin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Rydapt (Midostaurin) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Rydapt (Midostaurin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
