Description
SDZ Montelukast (Montelukast) is typically used for respiratory diseases. It is typically used for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (a condition causing sneezing, itching, nasal congestion, and runny nose), exercise-induced bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) and the management of chronic asthma (narrowing of the airways causing difficulty breathing). It may also have other uses.

SDZ Montelukast (Montelukast) is typically used once daily in the evening. This medicinal product is to be given to a child under adult supervision. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for your child. The granules can be given either directly in the mouth, or mixed with a spoonful of cold or room temperature soft food (e.g., apple sauce). The packet should not be opened until ready to use. After opening the packet, the full dose of oral granules must be given within 15 minutes. Do not store any oral granule and food mixture for later use. Do not mix the oral granules in liquid. Children may drink liquids after swallowing the oral granules. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Montelukast is not FDA approved for use in the reversal of bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) in acute asthma attacks, including status asthmaticus (a severe condition in which asthma attacks follow one another without pause). The Montelukast 4 mg formulation is not recommended below 2 years of age. In addition to its desired action, SDZ Montelukast (Montelukast) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause agitation, aggression, feeling restless or irritable It may cause anxiety, depression, confusion, problems with memory or attention It may cause stuttering, tremors, uncontrolled muscle movements Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to montelukast or any component of the formulation A treatment with SDZ Montelukast (Montelukast) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
