Description
Nadolol (Nadolol) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used to prevent the symptoms of angina (chest pain) and to treat mild to moderate high blood pressure (hypertension). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Nadolol (Nadolol) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It can be taken with or without food. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: The dose of nadolol should be gradually reduced, rather than stopped suddenly. Nadolol may make the symptoms of asthma (a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus) and certain other breathing problems worse. The signs of low blood sugar may not be as noticeable when you are taking nadolol. Use with caution in patients with liver and kidney impairment, and myasthenia gravis (a chronic autoimmune disorder in which antibodies destroy the communication between nerves and muscle, resulting in weakness of the skeletal muscles). Use with caution in patients with heart failure (a condition where the heart is unable to pump blood around the body properly). In addition to its desired action, Nadolol (Nadolol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause slow heart rate (bradycardia) or low blood pressure (hypotension). It may cause diarrhea, depression, dizziness, or trouble sleeping. It may cause cold symptoms (nasal congestion, sore throat, cough), or lightheadedness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to nadolol, any component of the formulation, or other same class medications (beta blockers). Do not use in case of asthma, sinus bradycardia (a slow heartbeat), heart block (where the heart beats with an abnormal rhythm), cardiogenic shock (a life-threatening condition where the heart suddenly stops pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to the body), and decompensated cardiac failure (when the heart doesn't pump blood as well as it should). Taking Nadolol (Nadolol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Nadolol (Nadolol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Nadolol (Nadolol)
