Description
Bystolic (Nebivolol) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Bystolic (Nebivolol) is typically taken once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered with or without food. WARNING: Bradycardia (slow heart rate) may be observed more frequently in elderly patients (>65 years of age), dosage reductions may be necessary. In addition to its desired action, Bystolic (Nebivolol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, unpleasant taste It may cause burning sensation of eyes, eye irritation, stinging of eyes It may cause nasal congestion (excess mucus and secretions in the air passages of the nose) Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to nebivolol or any component of the formulation, severe bradycardia (slow heart rate), heart block (when the electrical signal that controls your heartbeat is partially or completely blocked. This makes your heart beat slowly or skip beats and your heart can't pump blood effectively) greater than first-degree (except in patients with a functioning artificial pacemaker), cardiogenic shock (a life-threatening condition where your heart suddenly stops pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to your body), decompensated heart failure, sick sinus syndrome (skipping beats or beating too fast or too slow. Feeling dizzy. Having chest pain) (unless a permanent pacemaker is in place), severe hepatic (liver) impairment Taking Bystolic (Nebivolol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Bystolic (Nebivolol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
