Description
Mylan Nevirapine (Nevirapine) is an antiviral agent. It is typically used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It may also have other uses.

Mylan Nevirapine (Nevirapine) is typically used once a day for the first 2 weeks, and then twice a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered with or without food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with pre-existing liver disease, monitor closely for drug-induced liver damage. Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Nevirapine may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Use another form of birth control if taking Mylan Nevirapine (Nevirapine). Nevirapine can cause a severe form of skin reaction that may be life threatening. This is most likely to occur in the first 6 weeks of taking Mylan Nevirapine (Nevirapine). If you experience a severe rash or a rash at the same time as fever, feeling generally unwell, blisters, muscle or joint aches, contact your doctor or get medical attention immediately. In addition to its desired action, Mylan Nevirapine (Nevirapine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause increased serum cholesterol, decreased serum phosphate, decrease in number of white blood cells (part of the body's immune system) It may cause liver damage, fatigue, headache, skin rash It may cause nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to nevirapine or any component of the formulation. Moderate to severe liver impairment. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Mylan Nevirapine (Nevirapine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
