Description
Axid (Nizatidine) work by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. It is typically used to treat ulcers (sores on the lining of your stomach or small intestine) in the stomach and intestines, heartburn (a burning pain in your chest) and erosive esophagitis (inflammation that may damage tissues of the esophagus, the muscular tube that delivers food from your mouth to your stomach) caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (a condition in which acidic gastric fluid flows backward into the esophagus). It may also have other uses.

Axid (Nizatidine) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with or without food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. In addition to its desired action, Axid (Nizatidine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches, anxiety (a feeling of worry), insomnia (difficulty falling asleep). It may cause abdominal pain, anorexia (ack or loss of appetite for food), constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. It may cause skin rash, xerostomia (dry mouth). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to nizatidine, similar agents, or any component of the formulation. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, or breastfeeding contact your family doctor. A treatment with Axid (Nizatidine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
