Description
Teva Octreotide (Octreotide) is a somatostatin analogue agent (drug that stop your body from making too many hormones). It is typically used to treat acromegaly (a condition caused by increased levels of growth hormone (GH). GH helps your body used energy and build bones, muscles, and tissues). It is also used to reduce flushing episodes (redness of the skin together with a sensation of warmth or burning) and watery diarrhea caused by certain types of tumors (vasoactive intestinal polypeptide secreting tumors, metastatic carcinoid tumors). It may also have other uses.

Your doctor or nurse will administer Teva Octreotide (Octreotide) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patient with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patient with renal (kidney) problems. In addition to its desired action, Teva Octreotide (Octreotide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause high blood pressure, sinus bradycardia (a regular but unusually slow heart beat). It may cause alopecia (hair loss), skin rash, hyperglycemia (an excess of sugar in the bloodstream). It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, peripheral edema (swelling of the lower legs or hands). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to octreotide or any component of the formulation. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
