Description
Humatin (Paromomycine) is an antiparasitic agent. It is typically used for the treatment of acute and chronic intestinal amebiasis (a disease caused by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica). Management (adjunctive) of hepatic coma (a nervous system disorder brought on by severe liver disease). It may also have other uses.

Humatin (Paromomycine) is usually given three times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food. WARNING: prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial infection. Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Use with caution in patients with ulcerative bowel lesions (crypt abscess), may lead to renal (kidney) toxicity due to inappropriate absorption. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Humatin (Paromomycine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea and vomiting. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergic reaction) to paromomycin or any component of the formulation, intestinal obstruction Taking Humatin (Paromomycine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Humatin (Paromomycine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
