Additional information

Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) is typically taken as 2 tablets 3 times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer after meals to reduce the chance of stomach upset. It should not be used for more than 2 days. If the symptoms do not improve within this time or worsen at anytime, talk to your doctor.
WARNING: A yellowish color of the skin may indicate accumulation of phenazopyridine resulting from impaired renal (kidney) function or overdose or taking the drug for more than two days, and necessitates discontinuance of the drug. It should be noted that a decline in renal function is common in elderly patients. Phenazopyridine produces an orange to red color in the urine and feces, and may cause staining. Phenazopyridine may cause discoloration of body fluids and staining of contact lenses.

It may cause diarrhea, headache, itching of the skin, nausea, orange or red color of the urine or feces, staining of contact lenses (orange or red), vomiting
Contraindications: Do not take Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) if you are allergic to phenazopyridine or any ingredients of the medication, have reduced kidney function or have liver disease.
Taking Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method.
