Apo Piroxicam (Piroxicam) is typically used once or twice daily. It is recommended to individualize dosage to lowest effective dose for the shortest duration to minimize adverse effects. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be taken with food or milk to decrease stomach and intestinal disturbances.
WARNING: This medication may cause bladder pain, painful or difficult urination, or increased frequency of urination. If these symptoms occur without an explanation (e.g., infection), stop taking Apo Piroxicam (Piroxicam) and contact your doctor. Piroxicam may cause drowsiness or dizziness, affecting your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these and other hazardous tasks until you have determined how Apo Piroxicam (Piroxicam) affects you. Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment. Piroxicam can cause stomach ulcers, perforation (holes), and bleeding from the stomach. These complications can occur at any time without warning, and are sometimes severe enough to require immediate medical attention. The risk of ulcers and bleeding increase if you are taking higher doses of piroxicam for longer periods of time.
In addition to its desired action, Apo Piroxicam (Piroxicam) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause heartburn, heart pain, nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence.
It may cause water retention, blurred vision, skin rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to piroxicam or to any component of the formulation, recent or recurrent history of stomach and intestinal bleeding, children and adolescents <16 years of age, use in the third trimester of pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe uncontrolled heart failure.
Taking Apo Piroxicam (Piroxicam) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.
