Description

K citra (Potassium citrate) is a potassium supplement. It is typically used for the treatment or prevention of hypokalemia (potassium depletion) which does not result from dietary deficiency and to help reduce kidney stone formation. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

K citra (Potassium citrate) is typically taken as 2 to 4 times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Administer with meals or bedtime snack (or within 30 minutes after). Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water. Limit salt intake. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: Close monitoring of potassium concentrations in your blood is needed to avoid hyperkalemia (a potassium level in your blood that's higher than normal). Use with caution in patients with heart disease, liver and kidney impairment. 

In addition to its desired action, K citra (Potassium citrate) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause stomach distress or pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to potassium supplements or any component of the formulation, kidney insufficiency, patients with delayed stomach or intestinal problems.

Taking K citra (Potassium citrate) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
