Description
Inderal LA (Propranolol long-acting) is a cardiovascular agent. It is typically used to treat high blood pressure and to prevent angina pectoris (a condition associated with sharp chest pain and difficulty breathing, often associated with exercise). It may also have other uses.

Inderal LA (Propranolol long-acting) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Capsules may be taken with or without food, but should always be taken consistently (either on an empty stomach or with food). WARNING: Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus (high blood sugar level). Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) impairment. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. In addition to its desired action, Inderal LA (Propranolol long-acting) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways), abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, decreased appetite. It may cause nightmares, trouble sleeping, unusual tiredness or weakness, vomiting, skin rash, shortness of breath. Contraindications: If you are allergic to propranolol or any ingredients of the medication, if you are in cardiogenic shock (a life-threatening condition where your heart suddenly stops pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to your body), if you are prone to low blood glucose (sugar) level, if you have a severely slow heart rate, if you have asthma (long-term disease of the lungs) or severe chronic obstructive respiratory diseases, if you have serious heart block (a condition where the heart beats more slowly or with an abnormal rhythm) or sick sinus syndrome (when the heart's natural pacemaker becomes damaged and is no longer able to generate normal heartbeats at the normal rate). Taking Inderal LA (Propranolol long-acting) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
