Description

Jamp Quinine (Quinine) is an antimalarial agent. It is typically used to treat malaria (a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by a parasite that commonly infects a certain type of mosquito which feeds on humans). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Jamp Quinine (Quinine) is typically given every 8 hours. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It should be taken with food. Swallow the whole capsule with a full glass of water. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: Quinine is not recommended for the prevention or treatment of nocturnal leg cramps due to the potential for severe and/or life-threatening side effects. Quinine may reduce the number of platelets (cells involved in clotting) in the blood (thrombocytopenia), which can increase bleeding. It may cause a type of anemia (low red blood cell count) called hemolytic anemia, especially in patients with G6PD deficiency (a genetic disorder where the body doesn't produce enough of an enzyme called G6PD). This medication may also decrease blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Quinine may cause an abnormal heart rhythm known as QT prolongation. Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.

In addition to its desired action, Jamp Quinine (Quinine) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
It may cause dizziness, headache, increased sweating, or flushing.
It may cause vision changes (e.g., sensitivity to light, blurred vision).
It may cause abnormal heart rhythms (fast, slow, or pounding heart beat).

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Quinine, Mefloquine, Quinidine, or any component of the formulation. Patients with a history of potential hypersensitivity reactions (including blackwater fever, immune thrombocytopenia (where the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets), thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (a blood disorder where blood clots form in small blood vessels throughout the body), hemolytic uremic syndrome (destruction of platelets, anemia, and kidney failure) or thrombocytopenia) associated with prior Quinine use should not use Jamp Quinine (Quinine). Do not use Quinine in patients with prolonged QT interval, myasthenia gravis (a neuromuscular disease that leads to varying degrees of skeletal muscle weakness), or optic neuritis (where the nerves of the eyes become inflamed).

Taking Jamp Quinine (Quinine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Jamp Quinine (Quinine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Jamp Quinine (Quinine)
