Description
Rofact (Rifampin) is an antitubercular agent. It is typically used for the treatment of latent (dormant) or active tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection spread through inhaling tiny droplets from the coughs or sneezes of an infected person. It may also have other uses.

Rofact (Rifampin)'s dosage depends on the condition and the weight. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer on an empty stomach with a glass of water (ie, 1 hour prior to, or 2 hours after meals or antacids) to increase total absorption (food may delay and reduce the amount of rifampin absorbed). May mix contents of capsule with applesauce or jelly. WARNING: May cause vitamin K-dependent coagulation disorders and bleeding. Monitor coagulation tests during treatment in patients at risk of vitamin K deficiency (e.g., chronic liver disease, poor nutritional status, prolonged use of antibacterial agents or anticoagulants) In addition to its desired action, Rofact (Rifampin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dizziness It may cause drowsiness, fatigue, flushing, headache It may cause heartburn, irregular menstrual periods, itchiness Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to rifampin, any rifamycins (similar agents), or any component of the formulation, concurrent use of atazanavir, darunavir, fosamprenavir, praziquantel, ritonavir/saquinavir, saquinavir, or tipranavir. Taking Rofact (Rifampin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Rofact (Rifampin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
